Photo: Judy Garland (1944). One of Garland’s most successful films for MGM was Meet Me in St. Louis (1944), in which she introduced three standards: “The Trolley Song”, “The Boy Next Door” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”. This was one of the first films in her career that gave her the opportunity to be the attractive leading lady. During the filming of Meet Me in St. Louis, Garland and Vincente Minnelli (Director) had some initial conflict, but they entered into a relationship and married on June 15, 1945. On March 12, 1946, daughter Liza was born.
